Starring Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and Martin Short. This story takes place in New York City in and Upper West Side Apartment Building where three strangers meet and bond over their shared love of true crime podcasts. After a terrible death occurs in their building they suspect murder and decide to investigate the truth and start a podcast. The twists and turns lead them into mounting danger and the inevitable and leering truth that a killer is living among them.

This show was created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman and it premiered August 31 of 2021 on Hulu. In September of 2021 Only Murders in the Building was renewed for season 2. Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and Martin Short are all executive producers on the show. The episode are 25-35 minutes and it is extremely binge-able. There with be 10 episodes total airing every Tuesday for season one — and I have seen the first 7.

What immediately struck me about this show was the artistry of the costume design, and how significant each characters style was in highlighting their personality. The costume design in OMITB really was a character in and of itself. I have to say this is one of my favorite edits so far. I chose a signature piece from each Character; Charles’s pork pie hat, Mabel’s faux fur coat and Oliver’s purple polk-a-dot scarf. How fun would these characters be as a Halloween group costume!? If you have seen the show you will know the significance of the emerald ring and the Hardy Boys book which would add the perfect finishing touch to your subtle cosplay look or Halloween costume.
